How does the whole process work?
Speech therapy in a private clinic is considered medical so if you are filing with insurance you will have to go see your doctor first and get a referral. Upon receiving the referral, we will contact you to collect any other needed information. We will also run a benefit check for those filing insurance - this must be done before we can set an appointment for any evaluations. Once insurance benefits come back, we will get you on the schedule for evaluation!
My child receives speech therapy at school, is that the same as stepping stone?
There is a difference between school-based services and private practice services. School-based services follow specific guidelines set forth by Oklahoma Department of Education and Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA). These guidelines require school-based therapy placement to be "educationally necessary," meaning their speech and language errors are affecting their education, regardless of diagnosis. This makes it more difficult for children to qualify for school-based services. Private practice, however, can treat based on the diagnosis of a speech or language delay/disorder because it is a medical field, as opposed to the educational field. Because of this, remember just because your child qualifies with private practice speech does NOT mean they will qualify at school. If you are interested in pursuing school services in addition to their private speech, let us know so we can proceed together.
How does "mobile" therapy work?
We are partnered with several local daycares and preschools which allow us to load up Sage and head to that location for your child to receive their speech services. Once we arrive at your child's daycare/preschool, we sign them out of their class and head out to Sage for their session. When your child's session is finished, we take them back inside the daycare/preschool for the rest of their day.
Our mobile services do not include coming to your home.
Why Mobile?
This style of mobile therapy allows for a win-win-win situation; your child receives their speech services, you dont have to leave work, and you still get your evenings at home instead of running all over the Greater Tulsa Area just for speech! So instead of you coming to us, we come to your child!
Do you accept insurance?
Yes, we do accept insurance and are currently in contract with SoonerCare, BCBSOK, CommunityCare, United, and HealthChoice.
If we are not in network with your insurance we can provide you with a superbill so you can try to submit to your insurance for reimbursement. We will NOT file this for you.
We also take private pay - Please note all payments are due at the time of service, whether your filing with insurance or private pay. We can take cash, check, or cards.
My child doesn't attend daycare/preschool or I have a school-aged child. Can you still see them?
Yes! This is where our stationary location would be a benefit to you. Due to strict attendance policies, most school-aged children cannot miss more than a certain amount of days at school, which makes those after school appointments hard to come by and hard to get to. For this reason, we do have a stationary location in Skiatook for your school-aged child to receive therapy.
What daycares and preschools are you partnered with for mobile therapy sessions?
We are currently partnered with the following:
Raising Hope Daycare
Lakeview Early Childhood Center
Jamie's Daycare - in home daycare
Ally's Daycare - in home daycare
Amy Johnson - In home daycare
Stacy Fowler - In home daycare
